Common Red Flags
- A knock on your door after a storm from a crew you did not call
- No proof of insurance, or a promise to send it later
- Payment in full up front or only in cash
- A vague quote with no list of work
- Topping as the plan
- Climbing spikes on a tree that stays, which wound live trees
- Pressure to decide today
What a Good Quote Looks Like
Names the tree and the work, says what happens to the wood, brush and stump, lists the price and the company's name, phone and address. It is the same quote you would accept in the daylight.
If Something Goes Wrong
Take photos, keep paperwork and report damage to the company's insurer. Do not pay for work that was not done. See how to hire a tree service.
